About TRS
TRS is an independent UK web agency working across ecommerce, websites and web applications.
Founded in 2006, we have built long-term success by keeping experienced people close to the work, bringing strategy, UX, design and development together, and building lasting relationships with the organisations we support.
Our role has expanded as the web has changed, but the fundamentals remain the same: understand the client's business, make sound decisions and take responsibility for what we build.

Our studio
Our in-house team works together at our studio in Lincoln. It’s where we talk things through, share ideas, solve problems and stay connected to the work across TRS.
Being together means conversations happen naturally, knowledge is shared and everyone stays close to the thinking behind the work.
That carries into our client relationships too. Over time, we build an understanding of how each business works, why decisions were made and what matters when priorities change or something new needs to happen.
Talk to TRSHow we work
Our process is clear, practical and open. Clients know what we recommend, why we recommend it and what to expect.
A few things guide how we work on every project...
Clients come to us for judgement and advice as well as what we build. We explain the reasons behind our recommendations and welcome questions or further discussion.
We set expectations from the outset, keep our clients informed as work progresses, respond when they need us and make sure they know where things stand and what comes next.
New information, priorities and opportunities often appear during projects. We respond quickly, adjust where needed and keep the work moving in the right direction.
We pay attention to the details that shape how something works, how it feels in use, how well it performs and how useful it remains over time.
2006 - 2026
When TRS started in 2006, the web was still largely something people used on a desktop. Today it can sit at the centre of how a business sells, serves customers and operates.
The 20 years between have brought constant change. We follow those shifts closely, explore new technology early and test it in real work, so we understand what matters and what it could mean for the clients we support.
Mid 2000s
TRS begins at a time when websites are becoming an increasingly important part of how organisations communicate and do business.
Around 2008
Content management systems become part of client work. Websites stop being a set of fixed pages, and organisations can update and grow them without starting again each time.
Early 2010s
Smartphones and responsive design reshape how people browse, buy and interact, making good experiences across every screen fundamental.
2013 onwards
TRS becomes a Shopify Partner as online retail expands into multiple payment gateways, varying fulfilment, increased marketing, richer customer data, international growth and increasingly complex operations.
Late 2010s
APIs, portals, automation and bespoke applications increasingly connect what customers see with the systems and processes behind the organisation.
2022 - 2026
Generative AI opens new ways to search, create, analyse, automate and build. The possibilities are developing quickly, creating opportunities in how we work and what we can help clients create.
What this means
Technology keeps evolving, and what our clients can do with it. Our role is to understand the changes, judge what deserves attention and turn what we learn into useful ideas, opportunities and better ways of working.
AI and what comes next
AI and what comes next
AI is moving quickly, and the opportunities will be different for every business. What makes sense today may change as the technology develops.
We use AI across research, exploration, prototyping, development and testing. It helps us investigate more possibilities, test ideas earlier and move faster through parts of the work. This gives us practical experience that we can bring into conversations about what could be possible for our clients.
We use AI with the same care we bring to the rest of our work. Code is reviewed and tested by experienced developers, while security, privacy and responsible data handling remain part of the process throughout. AI can help us move faster; responsibility for what we build remains ours.
AI is only part of a much bigger picture. Faster hardware, new devices, better-connected systems and easier access to data keep opening up new ways to work, communicate, sell and run businesses.
No one can know exactly what comes next, but we keep a close eye on where technology is heading so we can spot useful opportunities early and help clients make sense of them.
Talk to TRS
TRS has never been sales-led. Most of our work has grown through recommendations and long-term relationships, so the first conversation is about understanding what could make a difference, exploring the possibilities and giving an honest view of the best way forward.
Those early conversations are often some of the most enjoyable. There might be a problem to solve, something that could work better or an idea waiting to become reality. Working out what comes next is where things get interesting and often where a long working relationship begins.
